Start your Healthier lifestyle today! If losing weight and getting healthier are your goals it is important
to keep them together in context. Adapting to a healthier lifestyle is a process, that once finished
becomes your new normal day to day. Here are 5 things you can do today to start that journey.
1.) Identify your goals. Knowing where you are, where you want to be, and what it will take to get
from A to B. This information is priceless. It keeps us focused, allows us to have a defined start
and end, and lets us preview our success.
2.) Sleep enough. Regardless of goals, this is a big one. Lack of sleep drives sugar cravings, elevates
stress, tears down muscle tissue, slows down the recovery process and makes us feel cranky.
One of the easiest steps to taking control of your health, lose the bedroom TV and sleep 7-9hrs a
night.
3.) Eat more protein. Aim for 1g/lb of bodyweight. This number is an easy baseline to remember,
and even if you fall short you will be getting enough to support your lean tissue. Protein is the
most filling macronutrient and will help stave off food cravings.
4.) Follow a routine. Eat at 6a, workout/run/stretch/be at peace at 7a, work from 8a-4p, etc. Being
on a routine allows us to plan our meals, workouts, sleep schedule in advance. It is less stressful
and allows for easier adaptations if things go awry.
5.) Celebrate the little wins. Every successful part of journey should be celebrated. This is hard, if it
were easy everyone would be fit and healthy. Take the time to appreciate the changes you’ve
made along the journey and don’t let anyone stand in your way. You’re worth it!
