Don’t Let It Beat You

Two weeks ago you may have decided to lose weight.  Two weeks ago you may have decided to start food prepping.  Two weeks ago you may have decided to start a better routine.  Well, the universe decided that it was going to make that a little bit trickier.  You have been given a choice; you can either face this new obstacle and continue on.  Or, you can decide that this obstacle cannot be overcome, right now.

I want to start by saying that neither option is inherently bad.  You have to take care of both your mental and physical health. Only you know if you have the bandwidth for more challenges, but for most of us, much of the time, we are thwarted by a change in the expectations, not the actual difficulty.

I urge you to stay positive in a time like this.  You may not get to move toward your goals as fast as you would like, but you certainly can make SOME progress.  Direction is infinitely more important than speed. Pick one thing you can do to make some progress each and everyday. Don’t let yourself lose your purpose.  Stay focused on what you can control, and don’t let outside things cause internal issues.  That is where excuses, blame, and lack of self respect loom.

This is a good reminder that there is never the “perfect” time.  Life is great at throwing challenges at you, believe in yourself to adapt.  Know that you have the strength to overcome. After the adversity and the challenge, you will be so thankful you didn’t turn around; and instead just chose a different direction.
